Written In The Stars is the first and only full shrine to Rurouni Kenshins' Seta Soujiro and Makimachi Misao. It was created December 24, 2005, with much work put into it prior. Before that, the first forty or so members of the SouMi Yahoo Group (or Mailing List) and I wanted to make a fanlisting. At first it seemed to be a good idea, but we had too many problems and only two or so members knew HTML.

First we had problems finding a host. After three or so failed findings, I decided to look for one myself. After we found a host, we had to have a title. The group went through more than twenty titles and three polls to decide which one to use. The title Written In The Stars was the title I came up with, and we all agreed on that.

Why this title? I wanted something unique for an RK website, and had thus far not come across an RK site with this name. Besides that, I wanted a name that would relate to Soujiro/Misao’s relationship they can have, or one I had read in many Soujiro/Misao fanfictions. Stars to me, are bright and joyous, set against a sad backdrop but beautiful all the same. Not only that, they last millions of years, and I wanted something to symbolize the lasting care in a connection Soujiro and Misao can have or has in fan’s minds.

Thus, we settled with the host, the content, and the title. However, I didn’t know any HTML and only one or two of the members knew it. One of the members was supposed to code the website; but she is a student and has a life outside the internet, so it took too much time and I grew impatient.

So to put it simply, the whole idea was left dormant for a few months.

Then it was addressed again by one of the members. So naturally, I started to work on it again. After about three weeks or so, I taught myself basic HTML and designed a layout. Then one of the members, Shanice Garcia kindly accepted my plea for help with the rest of HTML. After about three days, she had successfully coded the index page, leaving me with the rest of the site to code. The original site had only four sections, and after looking at other websites, I decided to increase that by twenty-one sections. It took me two more weeks to code everything, from the text to the pictures to the links.

And so far, it is doing excellent. Now, with three webmasters, I suspect it will do better in the future.
